What does SOS mean on iPhone?
To activate the SOS feature on an iPhone:
1. iPhone with Face ID:
- Quickly press the side button (located on the right side of the device) and either volume button simultaneously. Continue holding them down until the Emergency SOS slider appears.
2. iPhone with Touch ID:
- Rapidly press the side or home button (depending on the model) five times in quick succession. This will activate the Emergency SOS slider.
3. Emergency SOS Slider:
- Once the Emergency SOS slider appears, you can slide it to make an emergency call.
4. Automatic Call:
- If you continue holding down the side (or home) and volume buttons instead of sliding the Emergency SOS slider, your iPhone will automatically call emergency services after a countdown.
5. Location Sharing:
- After the call is made, your iPhone may send your emergency contacts a message with your current location.
It's important to use the SOS feature carefully and only in genuine emergency situations, as calling emergency services without a valid reason can lead to unnecessary strain on emergency resources.
Additionally, you can configure your emergency contacts and customize the SOS settings in the Health app on your iPhone. To do this, open the Health app, tap on your profile picture in the upper-right corner, select "Medical ID," and then go to "Edit" to add emergency contacts and customize your SOS settings.
